This paper deals with evidence for the Early and Middle Neolithic Funnel Beaker
Culture (TRB; c. 4000–2800 cal BC) on the island of Öland in the Baltic Sea. Previous
research on the subject has mainly dealt with a few megalithic tombs, and a
review is presented. Two recently excavated TRB settlement sites on the island are
then presented in some detail, and the role of agriculture in the context of the Early
and Middle Neolithic TRB culture on Öland is discussed.
