An important target group for public service broadcasters are the young viewers. There are a variety of TV-programs addressing children and many scientific studies are made on the content of the various children's programs, but very little is written about the relationship between children and TV-sport. The thesis in this study where based on the ideological constructions of collective gender identities by content analyses of one youth program in public service channel SVT 1 Lilla Sportspegeln (Little Mirror of Sports)- as this program addressing young girls and boys and represent an adult perspective on important norms and values for Swedish viewers. The result of the analysis describe a clear dived when it comes to sports for girls or boys to be active in. The broadcasted sports then support the cultural meaning making of gender in sports.
